The authorities conducted a thorough search, uncovering 417g of cocaine hidden under the inner soles of a passenger’s rubber shoes. The passenger, 24-year-old Charles Obaga Kavehere, was promptly arrested for drug trafficking.
Following Kavehere’s arrest, he was taken to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for further screening. Detectives discovered that Kavehere had also ingested more drugs with the intention of smuggling them into the country.
Kavehere is currently in the custody of JKIA’s Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) officers as they await the egestion of the ingested drugs. Once the drugs are recovered, Kavehere will face further legal procedures for his involvement in drug trafficking.
The interception of the Nairobi-bound bus and subsequent arrest of Charles Obaga Kavehere highlight the effectiveness of DCI’s efforts in combating drug trafficking.
Through proactive measures and collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, DCI continues to make significant strides in protecting communities from the scourge of narcotics.
