Davido Demands Retraction and Apology from Media Max

In a bold move to defend his reputation and seek redress for alleged defamation, Nigerian music icon Davido, popularly known as David Adedeji Adeleke, has enlisted the services of Conrad Law Advocates LLP to address defamatory claims made against him by Mediamax Network Limited.

The action comes in response to an article by K24, a Mediamax brand, falsely alleging Davido’s involvement in drug-related activities at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on April 1, 2024.

The demand letter, issued on April 2, 2024, underscores the detrimental impact of these unfounded accusations on Davido’s reputation, career, and personal life. It asserts the illegality of such claims under Kenyan law and calls for the immediate removal of defamatory content from Mediamax platforms.

In addition to requesting a cessation of further dissemination of defamatory statements, the letter demands an unconditional apology, acknowledgment of liability for defamation, and compensation for Davido’s legal expenses. Failure to comply within 48 hours may result in further legal action against Mediamax Network Limited.

The demand letter also serves as formal notice of potential legal claims against Mediamax, citing violations of defamation, libel, and slander laws. Davido and his legal team remain steadfast in their pursuit of justice and accountability.
