In a bold step towards nurturing Kenya’s entrepreneurial spirit and fostering innovation among its youth, a consortium of state agencies and stakeholders gathered in Naivasha for a pivotal week-long workshop. Their mission? To establish robust standards for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Incubation Hubs, laying the groundwork for youth-led socioeconomic transformation across the nation.
The urgency and significance of this workshop were underscored by the remarkable success story of the Isiolo Youth Innovation Center. Applauded as a beacon of hope and a shining example of youth empowerment, the center’s innovative approach has garnered widespread acclaim.
At the forefront of this ambitious endeavor are key players such as the Kenya School of Government (KSG), the Council of Governors, the International Labour Organization (ILO), the World Food Program Kenya (WFP Kenya), and the Technical and Vocational Educational Training Authority Kenya (TVETA). Joined by national and county government technical officers and academia, these stakeholders have united to carve out a roadmap for creating an enabling environment for youth-driven innovation and enterprise.

The workshop marks a significant juncture in Kenya’s quest to harness the latent potential of its youthful population. By establishing clear standards for Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Incubation Hubs, the participants aim to provide a structured framework conducive to nurturing creativity, fostering ingenuity, and promoting sustainable development.
Isiolo County Government, represented by CECm Aeleen Kajuju and Chief Officer Diba, participated in the crucial entrepreneurship and innovation workshop in Naivasha.
A core tenet of this initiative is the acknowledgment that the effective operation of both existing and new incubation hubs and innovation centers is paramount for cultivating entrepreneurial talent and propelling innovation forward. With the National Youth Council (NYC) taking a proactive role, particularly through its flagship program, Wazo, attention is also directed towards crucial issues such as the commercialization of ideas, startup financing, and safeguarding youth from exploitation.;
