Governor Guyo and President Ruto Strengthen Commitment to Isiolo’s Future

Today, Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan (Guyo) met with President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, for an important discussion centered on Isiolo County’s development. This meeting reflects their continued partnership, with Governor Guyo expressing his determination to further strengthen ties between Isiolo and the national government. His goal is clear: mobilizing national resources to drive development and ensure Isiolo is not left behind in the country’s growth journey.

Last week, Governor Abdi Ibrahim Hassan (Guyo) was the chief guest at a women’s empowerment fundraiser in Uasin Gishu County, joined by Farouk Kibet, a trusted aide to President William Ruto. They stressed the need for national unity and development, especially in marginalized areas like Isiolo. The leaders called for moving past tribal politics and focusing on progress that benefits all Kenyans.

The fundraiser saw 65 women-led groups benefit from the County Enterprise Development Fund (CEDF), a successful initiative by Governor Guyo in Isiolo, now adopted by several counties. The fund empowers women and supports local businesses, boosting economic growth in Isiolo and beyond. Governor Guyo’s focus on women’s economic empowerment is key to his strategy for inclusive, grassroots development.

Today’s discussions between Governor Guyo and President Ruto also focused on critical development projects such as the Isiolo Export Abattoir and the fast-tracking of the Crocodile Jaw Dam. Both initiatives are vital to Isiolo’s economic transformation, focusing on enhancing agricultural capacity and improving water resource management for the local community. Governor Guyo emphasized that these projects would play a crucial role in elevating the county’s economic prospects and improving the livelihoods of its residents.

Both leaders also discussed the importance of unity among Isiolo’s elected leadership, including Members of County Assembly (MCAs). Governor Guyo stressed that when local leaders work together, the county is better positioned to implement impactful development initiatives. He pointed to Isiolo as an example of how unity in diversity can lead to meaningful progress.

The ongoing collaboration between Governor Guyo and President Ruto reflects their shared vision for Isiolo’s future, one that is prosperous, united, and built on sustainable development. Governor Guyo’s commitment to strengthening the relationship between the county and the national government continues to pave the way for increased support and resources for Isiolo’s growth.

Looking back, it’s also important to remember the role played by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki during his tenure as Cabinet Secretary for Interior. Kindiki worked tirelessly to improve security in Isiolo, and his efforts laid a critical foundation for future development. As Deputy President, Kindiki remains a strong advocate for Isiolo’s development, emphasizing the importance of securing both the region’s infrastructure and its people.

Kindiki’s focus on security, combined with his ongoing advocacy for Isiolo’s development, highlights the importance of stability in fostering growth. With a secure environment in place, Isiolo is better positioned to benefit from ongoing development projects and enjoy long-term prosperity.
