Hon. Mumina Champions Education Reform at the County Education Stakeholders’ Meeting.

Today, Isiolo County Woman Representative Hon. Mumina convened the inaugural Isiolo County Secondary Schools Stakeholders Meeting at El-Boran Resort, bringing together educators, administrators, and community leaders to address systemic challenges hindering academic performance in the region.

The forum focused on collaborative strategies to improve learning outcomes and increase the number of students transitioning to higher education. Attendees shared insights, analyzed past successes, and identified actionable solutions to strengthen the county’s education system.

Highlighting recent data, Hon. Mumina noted that 518 students in Isiolo County scored a C+ or above in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams—the minimum grade required for direct university entry. She emphasized the need for “commitment, innovation, and sustained collaboration” to elevate educational standards.

“Education remains the most promising vehicle for economic empowerment, particularly for pastoralist communities in Isiolo,” said Hon. Mumina. “By addressing gaps in infrastructure, teacher training, and student support, we can unlock opportunities for our youth and drive long-term development.”

Stakeholders echoed the urgency of reforms, stressing education’s critical role in societal progress. Key discussion points included improving resource allocation, enhancing vocational training programs, and leveraging partnerships with national institutions.

The meeting concluded with a resolution to establish a task force to oversee the implementation of proposed initiatives ahead of the 2025 academic year.
