Inaugural Ramadhan Quran Competition Honors Isiolo’s Finest Reciters

In a historic event marking the first-ever Ramadhan Quran Competition in Isiolo, the community gathered to celebrate the rich tradition of Quranic recitation and honor the top performers. Hosted with great enthusiasm, the competition showcased the remarkable talent and dedication of participants, while also highlighting the commitment of local leaders to promote religious and cultural heritage.

The event, held during the auspicious month of Ramadhan 1445 A.H., brought together participants from across Isiolo County to demonstrate their mastery of the Quranic verses. Led by distinguished guests of honor, Governor H.E Abdi Ibrahim Guyo, EGH, Hon. Mohamed Roba Koto, Speaker of Isiolo County Assembly, and Dade Boru, County Secretary, the competition underscored the significance of preserving and promoting Islamic traditions in the region.

Among the standout reciters were Ubeidhula Alio, Abdulmalik Alio, and Masood Ibrahim, whose captivating performances captivated the audience and earned them top honors. Ubeidhula Alio clinched the coveted first place, winning an Umrah trip with a parent, while Abdulmalik Alio and Masood Ibrahim secured the second and third places, respectively, with prizes of Ksh 100,000 and Ksh 80,000 each.

The competition also recognized the exemplary efforts of organizers Zamzam Hassan and Mohammed Noor Abdullahi, whose meticulous planning and dedication ensured the success of the event. Their commitment to promoting Quranic knowledge and fostering community cohesion was instrumental in bringing the competition to fruition.

Guided by esteemed judges Mohammed Noor Issack, Ustadh Salim, Ustadh Abdirashid, and Qari Abdirizaq, the competition upheld principles of fairness and integrity, earning the respect and admiration of participants and spectators alike.

In addition to the cash prizes, each participant received a certificate, medal, and a copy of the Holy Quran, acknowledging their dedication to the art of Quranic recitation and their contribution to the cultural heritage of Isiolo.

As the first of its kind in the region, the Ramadhan Quran Competition has set a precedent for future events that celebrate faith, knowledge, and unity within the community.
