Isiolo Abattoir Inspires Narok’s Livestock Industry Vision

Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu has made an urgent plea to President William Ruto for financial assistance in the construction of a much-needed abattoir in Narok County. Speaking on Sunday, Governor Ntutu revealed that the project requires a total of Sh2 billion, with the county requesting Sh1 billion in funding from the national government to kick-start the initiative. The proposed abattoir aims to provide crucial infrastructure for the processing of livestock from Narok County, with plans to slaughter all cows, goats, and sheep at the facility.

Governor Ntutu stressed the significance of the abattoir project, drawing parallels with the Isiolo abattoir, a pivotal infrastructure endeavor in Isiolo County aimed at revolutionizing the livestock industry. The Isiolo abattoir boasts state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, positioning it as a hub for processing and exporting meat products. Its establishment is expected to contribute toward job creation, economic growth, and access to global markets, driving development in the region.

The Narok County initiative seeks to replicate the success of the Isiolo abattoir, addressing critical infrastructure gaps and unlocking the full potential of the local livestock sector. By investing in modern facilities and value chains, Governor Ntutu aims to boost employment opportunities, enhance economic productivity, and bolster Narok County’s position as a key player in Kenya’s agricultural landscape. The governor’s appeal to President Ruto underscores the urgency of addressing infrastructure needs and fostering sustainable development across Kenya’s counties.
