Isiolo County Enhances Healthcare Access with Key Developments

Isiolo County has made significant strides in improving healthcare services. Recently, the county reopened Garbatulla Hospital, revitalized the Isiolo County Teaching and Referral Hospital (ICTRH) morgue, and received a multimillion-shilling drug supply through a partnership with KEMSA. These developments represent a pivotal moment in the county’s commitment to enhancing health access for residents.

First, Garbatulla Hospital is now operational after extensive renovations. This facility provides essential medical services, enabling residents to receive care without traveling long distances. Governor Abdi Guyo emphasized the importance of restoring this hospital to meet the community’s healthcare needs effectively.

Moreover, the ICTRH morgue resumed operations following significant upgrades. These improvements enhance its body preservation facilities, allowing families to access dignified services for their deceased loved ones. Chief Officer of Medical Services Abdirahman Mohamed thanked the community for their patience and highlighted the importance of maintaining high healthcare standards.

In addition, local health facilities recently received a vital delivery of essential medicines. This supply, worth millions of shillings, addresses a two-month shortage and ensures clinics and hospitals are well-equipped to meet residents’ needs. Lucy Kaburu, the County Executive Committee Member for Health, assured the public that staff will distribute this stock promptly. Furthermore, another consignment is expected within three weeks.

Overall, these initiatives demonstrate the county government’s dedication to improving healthcare access. By enhancing infrastructure and supplies, Isiolo County actively builds a healthier community for all residents.
