Isiolo Woman Representative Hon. Mumina Bonaya has launched a large-scale empowerment program injecting over KSh 12.22 million into community groups across the county through the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF). The initiative targets women, youth, and persons living with disabilities, offering business tools and capital to support small enterprises.
During the forum, beneficiary groups received tents, chip-making machines, water tanks, car washing machines, and direct financial support to build and expand income-generating activities. Hon. Bonaya said the goal of the initiative is to strengthen grassroots self-reliance, describing empowerment as a path that restores dignity and economic independence instead of dependency.
Governor Abdi Guyo later supported the empowerment drive by allocating an additional KSh 6 million from the county administration to increase the number of groups able to benefit. His contribution expanded the reach of the program without altering the structure of the Women Representative’s event.
For many groups, the disbursement represents a shift toward practical, results-focused leadership. Beneficiaries described the support as timely and transformational, noting that this level of direct investment rarely reaches communities without delays or bureaucratic hurdles.
With nearly KSh 19 million now invested in local enterprises, the initiative is expected to stimulate microbusiness activity, open new income streams, and reduce reliance on seasonal livelihoods. Hon. Bonaya closed the event by reaffirming that empowerment is not an event but a long-term investment in people.
