Isiolo County has reached a significant milestone with the completion of a state-of-the-art casualty, accident, and emergency center at the Isiolo County Teaching and Referral Hospital (ICTRH).
This project is part of the county’s strategic plan to upgrade its healthcare infrastructure and improve medical services for residents.
Enhancing Regional Healthcare
The emergency center is designed to serve Isiolo Sub-Counties as well as Marsabit and Samburu counties. This broader service scope will alleviate the pressure on ICTRH by distributing patient loads more effectively across regional healthcare facilities.
Governor Guyo secured partnerships and funding to partially equip the center with state-of-the-art medical equipment. The facility’s completion and equipment installation highlight the county’s dedication to providing high-quality healthcare services.
Improved Drug Supply and Cashless Transactions
In April, Governor Guyo’s administration delivered two batches of consignment; essential drugs and medical supplies from the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) in just over a month.
This ongoing supply of essential drugs demonstrates the administration’s commitment to providing first-class healthcare services to county residents.
Recently, ICTRH transitioned to a cashless payment system to enhance safety, efficiency, and accountability. This system ensures better budget discipline and reduces the risk of fund pilferage.
Community Health Initiatives
Isiolo County’s healthcare improvements extend beyond hospital facilities. The county has over 48 Community Health Units, supported by 760 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) and 50 Community Health Assistants (CHAs).
These workers play a vital role in community health engagement. A partnership with Living Goods, a non-profit organization, facilitates the digitalization of health data.
The completion of the state-of-the-art casualty, accident, and emergency center at ICTRH marks a significant advancement in Isiolo County’s healthcare services.
This facility, along with ongoing upgrades to other regional hospitals and improved community health initiatives, underscores the county’s commitment to enhancing the health and well-being of its residents.
Governor Guyo and his administration continue to strive for a healthcare system that is both accessible and of the highest quality.
