Isiolo Youth Shine at National Youth Week 2024

Today, Isiolo hosted the National Youth Week 2024 celebrations at the Isiolo Police Mess Grounds. The forum brought together youth representatives from across the region through the Gumzo Na Vijana initiative. This vibrant event featured lively performances and engaging discussions.

The day began with a dynamic youth procession from Isiolo CBD to the venue. As the energy continued, local artists, including The Big Five team and Heavy D, provided entertainment.

Furthermore, youth from various backgrounds addressed the gathering, expressing gratitude for the event’s organization.

Adan Hussein Fana from the RARE Programme delivered an inspiring speech. He urged his peers to seize emerging opportunities and thanked the Isiolo County Governor for addressing the Isiolo GenZ protests by initiating a dialogue with youth. Consequently, this created a platform for meaningful engagement.

Representing the PS State Department of Youth, Mr. Alan Machari underscored the government’s commitment to empowering the youth. He spoke about innovative programs and mentorship opportunities designed to foster personal and national growth.

Additionally, he noted that this event marked the end of National Youth Week’s county engagements, with International Youth Day celebrations set for Mombasa.

Margaret Kiogora, Ag. CEO of the National Youth Council, encouraged Isiolo’s youth to contribute their insights on NYC restructuring. She highlighted the importance of active youth participation in democracy.

Moreover, she discussed the government’s plan to combat unemployment by creating job opportunities and supporting entrepreneurship.

Furthermore, Chief Officer of Youth and Sports, Abduba Diba, briefly addressed the ongoing restructuring of the Kenya School of Government Isiolo Youth Innovation Centre.

He also mentioned the development of the Isiolo Youth Development and Sport Policy. In conclusion, Diba thanked everyone who made the event successful.

Overall, the forum, supported by various partners, provided a platform for youth to voice their needs and learn about government initiatives. Key focuses included improving mental health services, access to affordable healthcare, job creation, and supporting entrepreneurship. As a result, the event showcased the dynamic spirit of Isiolo’s youth and reinforced the commitment to their empowerment and development.
