In a recent move by Kenyan President H.E. William Samoe Ruto, notable changes have been made in various governmental sectors, aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness. Among the appointments announced are Francis Chachu Ganya and Ali Wario, both former Members of Parliament who, despite unsuccessful bids for gubernatorial seats in the 2022 General Elections, have been entrusted with significant responsibilities.
Francis Chachu Ganya, a familiar figure in Marsabit County, served as a Member of Parliament for North Horr constituency. He has been appointed as a member of the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Board, effective from March 15, 2024. With a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Environmental Studies from St. Lawrence University, New York, USA, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from George Mason University, Virginia, USA, Ganya brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Ali Wario, on the other hand, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health. This appointment, made by the Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Florence Bore, is effective from March 15, 2024. Wario, a former Member of Parliament for the Bura Constituency, brings a diverse background to his new position. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Nairobi, along with a Diploma in Social Work from the same institution. He also completed his secondary education at Tarasaa High School and his primary education at Mororo Primary School.
Despite their electoral setbacks, both Ganya and Wario remain committed to public service and community development. Their appointments underscore President Ruto’s dedication to effective governance and leadership, particularly in critical sectors such as wildlife conservation and occupational safety and health.
In the face of ongoing challenges and opportunities, the contributions of Ganya and Wario, former Members of Parliament, are poised to play a pivotal role in advancing Kenya’s development agenda. As they assume their new responsibilities, their experiences in the legislative realm will undoubtedly inform their efforts to promote sustainable development and safeguard the well-being of Kenyan citizens.
