Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali has expressed his dissatisfaction with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) following a search of his home, condemning the operation as excessive and unnecessarily dramatic.
Despite his concerns, Governor Ali reiterated his firm commitment to fully cooperating with the EACC’s investigation. He stated, “As a leader, I am dedicated to transparency and accountability. I am prepared to work with the EACC and provide complete cooperation to ensure a meticulous and fair investigation.”
In a statement released after visiting the EACC Upper Eastern Region office, Governor Ali expressed frustration with the conduct of the raid, stating that it had caused undue distress to his family. He remarked, “While the presentation of a search warrant was appropriate, the lengthy journey from Marsabit to Isiolo seemed unnecessary. This experience has deeply unsettled my family, and I believe a more tactful approach could have been taken.”
Additionally, the governor’s wife and former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani were also detained on Wednesday morning and taken to the Integrity Centre in Nairobi for further interrogation.
This incident has sparked discussions about the EACC’s methods in corruption investigations, with stakeholders emphasizing the importance of following legal protocols and preserving the dignity of those under scrutiny.
As the investigation progresses, the public eagerly awaits further developments in this prominent case, hoping for a prompt and transparent resolution.
