President Ruto Condemns Heckling of Bomet Governor

President William Ruto has denounced the recent incident of public heckling directed at Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok during the President’s visit to the county on Saturday. Addressing a rally, President Ruto emphasized the importance of maintaining order and civility, urging residents to exercise patience and utilize their electoral power to hold non-performing leaders accountable.

The disruption occurred when President Ruto invited Governor Barchok to address the crowd, only to be met with jeers and boos from some attendees. Despite the President’s attempts to calm the situation, the heckling persisted, prompting him to stress the significance of peaceful discourse and democratic processes.

“I want to make it clear… I don’t want such incidents during rallies… You are the ones who elect MCAs, MPs, Senators, and even the Governor… I urge you to be patient and express your grievances at the ballot box,” President Ruto stated, emphasizing the importance of respecting each other’s right to speak.

This incident echoes a similar occurrence in Kericho, where Governor Dr. Erick Mutai faced similar dissent from residents just a day earlier. The episodes highlight the growing frustration among citizens towards their leaders and underscore the need for constructive engagement and dialogue to address governance issues.
