The Public Service Commission (PSC) has refuted claims of employing former Royal Media Services journalist Jacque Maribe as the head of communication in the Ministry of Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management. Maribe’s purported appointment had garnered attention following her acquittal in the Monica Kimani murder case after a lengthy legal battle spanning six years. However, in a press release issued Thursday, the PSC clarified that it had no involvement in Maribe’s recruitment to the position.

“For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise,” the statement attributed to Commission chair Anthony Muchiri emphasized, dispelling any misconceptions about Maribe’s appointment. The statement from the PSC came in response to reports by Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, who had seemingly confirmed Maribe’s appointment. The Commission’s official statement contradicted Kuria’s assertion that the Public Service Commission had appointed Maribe.
In her response to assuming the position, Maribe expressed gratitude for her new role, attributing her success to truthfulness and acknowledging the divine intervention in her appointment. Despite the public speculation surrounding her appointment, Maribe remains committed to fulfilling her duties in the Ministry of Public Service. As the dust settles on this episode, the importance of transparency and adherence to due process in government appointments becomes apparent. The clarification from the Public Service Commission serves as a reminder of the significance of merit-based recruitment practices in upholding integrity and accountability within the public service sector.
