Governor Guyo Leads Security Operation in Kuro Bisan Owo After Renewed Bandit Attacks

Governor H.E. Abdi Ibrahim Hassan, EGH, travelled to Kuro Bisan Owo on Tuesday in a firm and hands-on response to rising bandit attacks in Isiolo’s northern frontier. He arrived with senior members of the County Security Team, signalling an intensified effort to restore safety in the region.

The visit follows a series of cross-border raids linked to armed groups believed to be operating from neighbouring Samburu County. These attacks have targeted grazing areas and key water points, leaving several people dead and disrupting the livelihoods of pastoralist communities. Many herders have reported shrinking food supplies, limited access to fuel, and growing anxiety as the violence persisted.

Before the Governor’s arrival, the County Government delivered food rations, petrol, and essential supplies to affected families. On the ground, Governor Hassan met with herders, listened to their concerns, and reaffirmed that the county would stand with them throughout the crisis. Residents welcomed him warmly, saying his presence brought renewed confidence at a difficult moment.

Later, the Governor convened a security briefing with officers stationed in the area. He directed that all illegal armed elements operating inside Isiolo must be identified, disarmed, and driven out. He also ordered a complete recovery of stolen livestock, stressing that the raids were unacceptable and would not be tolerated.

A Special Operation Group (SOG), deployed under his instructions, has already begun operations. The team will track attackers, seize illegal weapons, and secure vulnerable grazing routes. County officials say a broader multi-agency operation is underway and will intensify in the coming days.

Governor Hassan’s visit reinforced his administration’s core message: security is a priority, and the government will act swiftly and decisively whenever residents are threatened. His hands-on leadership continues to shape a more assertive and coordinated response across Isiolo’s borderlands.
